Product Description

Bhut Jolokia (A.K.A. Naga Jolokia, Ghost Pepper), was officially measured at over oe million Scoville Heat Units (SHU) in 2006.

These chillies are very, very, very hot being three times hotter than an Orange Habanero, our suggestion for cooking with these chillies is to use a small amount, very finely ground (dry or rehydrated and reduced to a paste). As a rough guide, try ¼ of a pod per person for a hot dish.

The Bhut Jolokia is an interspecific hybrid cultivated in the Indian states of Nagaland and Assam. It grows in the Indian states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. There was initially some confusion and disagreement about whether the Bhut was a Capsicum Fruitescens or a Capsicum Chinense pepper, but DNA tests showed it to be an interspecies hybrid, mostly C. chinense with some C. frutescens genes. In 2007, Guiness World records certified that the Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia) was the world's hottest chilli pepper, 400 times hotter than Tabasco Sauce

Handling Recommendations: WARNING—These chilies are extremely hot !. We recommend the wearing of gloves and the use of a dust mask if you are grinding them or making a paste.

Uses: For best results, grind to a fine powder or rehydrate and grind into a paste. Use just a small amount to add a powerful heat to any dish. See our WEB Site at www.www.minijarcompany.co.uk for recipe ideas.
